Machine Operator

Rapid Personnel are working with a bespoke engineering company based in Reading, currently recruiting for Machine Operator to join their business on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a pivotal role within their operations, so ideal for someone seeking long-term work with fantastic progression opportunities. Initially you will be responsible for providing operator support to the leading setters to maximise shift efficiencies. Additionally, you will be involved in the setting and operating of the punch presses ensuring adherence to the quality system and safe working practices. Responsibilities * Operating a variety of engineering machinery to produce quality metal parts, and ensure they meet specification of standards and technical drawings. * Monitor quality of products produced. * To run the machines to achieve cycle time deadlines, as recorded on the route cards. * Assisting Setters/Teams Leader in operational improvements and personal development. * General maintenance of work area, ensuring clean and tidy to minimise risk, and assisting with maintenance when required. * Occasionally undertaking stock and warehouse duties to support during peak periods Requirements * Previous Machine Operator experience within an engineering environment (essential) * Able to understand technical drawings and diagrams (essential) * Able to use measuring equipment (essential) * Strong numeracy and literacy skills (essential) * Experience of manufacturing best practice e.g. SMED, 5S etc (desirable) * Counterbalance FLT certificate (desirable) * Experience working in Metal/Sheet Metal environment (advantageous) * Strong IT skills (desirable) Hours, Pay & Benefits * Rotational shift pattern * Week 1: 6:00 to 14:00 / Week 2: 14:00 to 22:00 * Monday to Friday, 40 hours paid per week. * £12.60 per hour * Fantastic OTE potential * Production Bonus – 5% * Profit Share Quarterly Bonus – up to 30% * 28 days holiday per annum * 5 additional days leave following 1-year service If you are interested in this opportunity, please click ‘apply’ today and the team will be in touch to discuss further
