The Role The role is to assist the Workshop Manager and Technical Manager to provide effective maintenance of all vessels, shore-based assets and fuelling systems within the Peel Ports Group division, enabling their safe operation. Principal Responsibilities * Maintenance and repair of hull fixtures and fittings on all vessels supported by the teams * Assist with annual surveys and inspections of vessels, both internal and external * Maintain engineering checklists and planned maintenance and stock control records, as directed by the Workshop Manager * Provide technical guidance to pilot boat crews when issues are identified to ensure good working practices are upheld * Maintain all tools and equipment in good order, reporting failures or shortcomings * Fulfil all requirements as required under the planned maintenance schedule * Carry out duties and responsibilities of the Crane Supervisor during lift operations * Undertake minor fabrication, welding and carpentry duties along with any additional duties subject to training and competency, as deemed appropriate by the management The Candidate The successful candidate must have undertaken a recognised apprenticeship and spent time within a busy fabrication/manufacturing workshop environment. They will have an understanding of safety management systems and how to ensure compliance with legislation and company HSEQ policies and processes. * Planned maintenance system experience * Awareness of risk assessment and permit-to-work processes * HNC or equivalent Workshop Technology/Fabrication Welding * Full UK Driving Licence is essential What’s in it for you?
