Site Supervisor (M&E) - Necton 400kV Substation (Contract Position) We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Supervisor (M&E) to join our client's team on the Necton 400kV Substation project. This is a full-time, site-based role starting on 26th May 2025 and running until 21st November 2025. Their UK branch has recently secured substantial contracts, including a framework agreement with National Grid for substation projects ranging from £5 million to £50 million, as well as a framework with SSEN for projects up to £100 million. Operating from state-of-the-art offices in central Birmingham and London, the client is rapidly expanding, driven by a dedicated team of industry experts. Project Overview: The Necton project involves the extension of an existing 400kV AIS substation, tripling its size to facilitate new customer connections to the network. As Site Supervisor (M&E), you will support the Site Manager by supervising on-site works, including commissioning and fencing, and ensure all activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. Key Responsibilities: As a Site Supervisor (M&E) at the Necton 400kV Substation, you will assist the Site Manager with the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site activities. You will be responsible for monitoring subcontractors to ensure that project standards and timelines are met, and you will lead by example when interfacing with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and authorities. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and all relevant health and safety standards, overseeing the quality of M&E works, including the supervision of commissioning and fencing tasks. You will also ensure that accurate internal reporting is maintained and that communication with external stakeholders is professional and effective. You will be expected to monitor and enforce safe systems of work, including issuing permits, such as Dig and Hot Works, and to lead and motivate the on-site team by setting high standards in safety, quality, and efficiency. Additionally, you will support the implementation of Safe Systems of Work and ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the project. You will complete site reports to a high standard, ensuring that all tasks align with client KPIs, and facilitate project progress by capturing and promoting best practices and lessons learned. It will also be your responsibility to maintain your own skills and knowledge, keeping them up to date with relevant industry practices. You will support clients by ensuring that all agreed KPIs are met or exceeded. Requirements: Essential: * Full UK driving licence * National Grid Competent Person NSI 6 & 8 * IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or SSSTS certification * CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport * Minimum 5 years' experience in the T&D industry, preferably on National Grid sites * Experience in a supervisory role, particularly in M&E, LV, and HV environments * Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines * Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude * Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Desirable: * HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering * Impressed Voltage training * Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor * IOSH Environmental or equivalent certification * Knowledge of National Grid Transmission procedures * Experience working on construction sites with CDM regulations Physical & Cognitive Requirements: * Ability to navigate construction sites with uneven terrain for up to 10 hours per day. * Office-based tasks include repetitive hand movements and typing. * Cognitive skills required for problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management. * Ability to handle stress and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Schedule & Travel: * Work Schedule: 50 hours per week (5 x 10-hour days) * Location: Necton, Midlands (PE37 8DL) * Travel: National travel required, with the ability to arrange own travel and accommodation. * Contract Type: Outside IR35
