Design Manager

Deanston Cooper's client are a highly successful, privately owned civil engineering based in Glasgow, known for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across Scotland. With a growing portfolio in the energy sector, the company is seeking a Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities on civils-based substation projects. Your duties as Design Manager will include: * Managing and coordinating all aspects of the design process for civil engineering and substation projects. * Liaising with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to ensure seamless integration of design solutions. * Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and health and safety guidelines. * Supporting tendering and pre-construction activities, providing technical input and risk assessments. * Overseeing design reviews, approvals, and value engineering opportunities. * Collaborating with project managers and site teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction. * Leading design risk assessments and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. * Maintaining accurate records and documentation for design changes and approvals. Applications for the role of Design Manager are welcome from candidates with: * A degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. * Proven experience in design management within the civils and substations sector. * Strong knowledge of substation construction, including foundations, steelwork and infrastructure. * Familiarity with industry regulations, including National Grid, SP Energy Networks, or equivalent standards. * Experience in managing multi-disciplinary design teams and external consultants. * Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. * Proficiency in design software and document management systems. * A proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality outcomes
