Advert AIMS Project Support Officer (Fixed Term) Dumfries £26,766 - £28,419 We are recruiting for a Project Support Officer (PSO) to join the AIMS Project team based in Dumfries and Galloway College, Crichton Campus. As a Project Support Officer, your office based and front-line role will be pivotal to assisting in the delivery of the AIMS Project through key administrative tasks. Individuals are sought who: 1.Excel maintaining a range of project information, including financial for ease of retrieval and evaluation. Are methodical in their approach to project enquiries and engagements with clients. Can take the initiative with effective communications to ensure timeous data and reporting requirements. Enjoy sharing relevant information via social media to promote the work of the AIMS Project and related Employability Programmes. You will work in a small team operating within innovative facilities incorporating state of the art equipment and technology, which provides a range of individuals hands-on experience and skills. You will manage contact with staff across the service to help registered clients progress their skills journey as well as individuals from local businesses. Project Team - Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) The AIMS project – Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the south of Scotland – supports both businesses and individuals in Dumfries and Galloway. The work of AIMS is driven by Industry 4.0, which is the ongoing automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial practices using modern technology. The team provides research and development, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing (including but not limited to 3D printing, scanning and probing etc), subtractive manufacturing (CNC milling, turning, SolidCam etc), fabrication, robotic automation and computer science. Alongside the valuable support provided, AIMS technicians deliver a wide range of practical, skills-based training and courses tailored to meet a variety of needs. From introductory hands-on taster sessions to bespoke skills and training for particular business needs, AIMS have the equipment and expertise to inspire, upskill and progress the local economy. Advert cont Business support: AIMS supports businesses to innovate, develop, prove, and introduce new products and services. For example, prototyping, product development and process improvement. The technical team offer training on the latest engineering technologies, such as CNC machining, 3D printing, robotics and automation including cobot welding. AIMS can support all businesses in the region, from sole trader to large enterprise. Individual skill seekers: AIMS offer a suite of courses to upskill both businesses and individuals. The team work with adults and young people from aged 19, school leavers, job seekers, students, sole traders, and entrepreneurs. AIMS engage and inspire a variety of people who may have some experience, or be new to the project, to acquire new skills, accreditation and the motivation to take further steps in their career journey. We work closely with the Dumfries and Galloway Local Employability and Skills Partnership, and through this partnership, can signpost to other means of support. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. This post is fixed term until March 2026. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
