CAD Technician – Tunnelling, Trenchless & Shaft Construction Location: Doncaster / Hybrid Full-time | Permanent Sector: Civil Engineering / Underground Infrastructure Salary: Competitive Benefits HB Tunnelling Design & Engineering Team is expanding due to increasing workloads in the civil engineering sector. We’re an established, forward-thinking engineering consultancy delivering innovative solutions across infrastructure, transport, energy, and built environment sectors. With major projects across the UK, we’re expanding our team and looking for talented Cad Technician to help us shape a safer, more sustainable future. We are specialist in tunnelling, trenchless and complex underground engineering projects and work closely with our clients in Early Contractor Involvement to undertake feasibility studies, options reviews and FEED designs, leading onto detailed design and construction by our delivery teams. What We’re Looking For: ✔ Relevant engineering degree (BEng, MEng, MSc in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering) ✔ Knowledge of UK design codes and standards (Eurocodes, BS, CDM etc.) ✔ Knowledge of UK Third party approval processes, Network Rail, CRT, National Highways etc ✔ Proficiency in industry tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, PLAXIS, WALLAP, or similar ✔ Passion for solving real-world engineering challenges ✔ For senior roles: chartership, experience leading projects, mentoring juniors, and liaising with clients What You’ll Be Doing: Create accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for tunnels, shafts, temporary works, and civil structures Prepare general arrangement , reinforcement, and construction drawings in line with project specifications. Collaborate with engineers, site teams, and external consultants to interpret and visualise technical requirements. Assist with as-built drawing production , document control, and drawing revisions. Ensure all outputs align with internal CAD standards and client requirements. Support digital workflows and drawing registers throughout project lifecycles. ✅ What We’re Looking For: Proven experience as an CAD Technician in a civil engineering or infrastructure setting. Solid understanding of tunnelling, shaft sinking , or heavy civils is a strong advantage. Proficiency in CAD 2D is essential and 3 D experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within project teams. Relevant HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Design, or Drafting. Why Join Us?
