Qualified Accountant

Are you an experienced and qualified accountant looking to step into a more senior, hands-on role within a supportive and forward-thinking accountancy practice? We’re working with a growing SME-focused firm in Lancaster that’s on the lookout for a Qualified Accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and help lead the day-to-day work of the wider team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, providing expert tax advice, and supporting junior colleagues, all while keeping a commercial mindset and a high standard of technical work. What you’ll be doing: * Meeting clients both virtually and face-to-face * Preparing and reviewing annual accounts, tax returns, and complex queries * Providing advice on income tax, corporation tax, capital gains, inheritance tax, and VAT * Dealing with HMRC audits and investigations * Reviewing and signing off work completed by junior team members * Managing performance and supporting staff development * Monitoring KPIs and contributing to team strategy * Attending management meetings and playing a key role in the firm’s continued success What we’re looking for: * ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) * Proven practice experience managing a client portfolio * Confident with cloud-based accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) * Strong attention to detail and up-to-date technical knowledge * Excellent communication and leadership skills * Previous experience of managing a team is essential * A client-focused attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving What’s in it for you? * Up to £45,000 salary * Corporate gym membership * Bupa cash plan (after probation) * Enhanced holidays for long service * Regular team lunches and social events * Access to a benefits platform with a wide range of discounts * Opportunity to give back through internal charity-focused teams You’ll be joining a professional, friendly practice that’s passionate about providing a great service and a positive working environment.
