About the job Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, as the Director of Engineering, you will oversee all engineering activities, ensuring the physical property, guests, and colleagues are well-maintained. You will lead, mentor, and train the engineering team, managing financial aspects of operations and maintenance, including utilities consumption. During pre-opening, you will drive the technical services, including recruitment, process structuring, and compliance with Mandarin Oriental standards. Your responsibilities include: Maintaining the safety and proper condition of all buildings, equipment, and areas. Implementing “Safe and Sound” procedures in compliance with group standards. Ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance for all work. Participating in emergency response duties. Overseeing the engineering management team and outsourced services. Contributing to strategic planning and community involvement initiatives. Developing preventative maintenance programs. Managing the annual CapEx plan and budgets. Overseeing project management for hotel enhancements. Supporting financial performance, energy management, and contractor selection. Collaborating with HR on recruitment, training, and employee recognition. Supporting IT&T upgrades and emergency systems testing. Training staff on technical systems and participating in relevant committees. Conducting inspections to uphold standards. Maintaining documentation, certifications, and technical knowledge. Assisting colleagues with technical advice and ensuring standards are met. Preparing budgets, forecasts, and energy conservation strategies. Engaging with local authorities for compliance. Promoting safety and security protocols. Qualifications and experience Minimum five years in engineering management, preferably in luxury hospitality. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy preferred). Pre-opening and resort experience is advantageous. Technical skills Proficiency with office applications (Word, Excel, Visio). Expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, energy systems, access control, and kitchen equipment. Experience in maintenance management, project coordination, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, operational, and collaboration skills.
