Senior Geotechnical Engineer

ole Overview We are seeking a Chartered Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a key technical role within the business, responsible for providing expert geotechnical input across all stages of project delivery—from tender to construction. The successful candidate will lead complex ground engineering designs, support project teams, and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities Provide geotechnical engineering expertise on piling and foundation projects, including ground investigation, analysis, and design. Design and specify deep foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement methods, and other geotechnical solutions. Lead the preparation of technical reports, risk assessments, method statements, and design documentation. Interpret ground investigation data and develop geotechnical models. Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met. Support tendering activities through geotechnical input and value engineering. Ensure compliance with relevant Eurocodes, British Standards, and company procedures. Supervise and mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and training. Conduct site visits and inspections to support construction teams and resolve technical challenges. Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in design methods and construction techniques. Requirements Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) with a recognised engineering institution (ICE, GeolSoc, etc.). Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications desirable. Minimum 7 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant time spent in the piling or groundworks sector. Strong understanding of UK ground conditions and geotechnical design principles. Proficient in industry software such as Plaxis, Wallap, PDisp, Slope/W, Oasys, or similar.
