HSEQ & Transport Manager

Alliance Tool Hire is a fast-growing independent tool hire company with 10 branches across the South of England. We are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) & Transport Manager to join our team and build on our safety-first culture. This role is to be based from either our Mitcham, South London or Horsham, Sussex branch with travel across the depot network required for a minimum of 1-2 days per week. Responsibilities Transport Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs, oversee vehicle checks and respond to incidents, including liasing with insurance providers as required. Monitor transport costs, fuel usage, and driver performance to drive efficiency. Manage transport-related contracts and relationships with external providers, e.g. vehicle leasing companies, vehicle repair networks. Ensure compliance with transport legislation, and company health and safety policies and maintain our FORS accreditation. Health & Safety Develop and oversee the company’s health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. Conduct regular internal audits, and support external audits, across our depot network and resolve any issues identified. Oversee safety training and deliver toolbox talks for staff, including induction programs for new employees. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; report findings and implement corrective actions. Skills & Experience Proven experience in a transport management role and experience in a health & safety management role, ideally in the hire industry or construction-related sector. Commercial mindset with the ability to negotiate terms with suppliers e.g. vehicle leasing companies / dealers, garage networks. Ability to develop policies and procedures based on best practice and advice from external expert advisors. Hands-on, pragmatic approach with bias towards getting things done and good attention to detail. Confident in delivering training and engaging staff in safety awareness. Competent in using Microsoft Office, H&S management software and transport management software. Holds a formal HSEQ qualification, e.g. IOSH. Hold a valid UK driving licence.
