Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) Location: Postcombe, Oxfordshire Salary: £45,000 per annum The Role Produce mechanical schematics, layouts, elevations, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD (Revit experience is a bonus). Carry out mechanical engineering calculations including heat loss, pipework sizing, and ductwork design using software such as Hevacomp. Prepare accurate equipment schedules aligned with Employers’ Requirements and design standards. Review and check technical design documents for compliance with Building Regulations and British Standards. Identify and address design risks with practical, well-communicated solutions. Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors. Use electronic document management systems to keep documentation organised and up to date. Assist in delivering installation-ready Stage 5 designs. The Company Over 20 years delivering Mechanical/HVAC projects throughout the UK. Operates across both commercial and residential sectors. Office based in Oxfordshire. Team of approximately 30 direct employees, including office and site staff. Annual turnover around £8.5 million. This hire is due to company growth and a strengthened order book. The Ideal Candidate Minimum of 2 years' experience in mechanical building services or HVAC design. Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience desirable. Working knowledge of Hevacomp and familiarity with SAP/SBEM tools. Strong understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, and best practices. Experience preparing technical submissions and using document management systems. HNC or higher qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related field. Excellent communication skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Strong IT and organisational skills.
