Job Description

Responsibilities: 1. Culinary Excellence: Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing high-quality, creative menus tailored to our lodges luxury standards. Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of all dishes, reflecting our commitment to excellence. Oversee food preparation to maintain hygiene and safety standards. Incorporate locally sourced ingredients and regional flavours into the menu whenever possible. 2. Kitchen Management: Collaborate with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations and ensure efficiency. Supervise and train kitchen staff to uphold high performance, teamwork, and professionalism. Monitor inventory, order supplies, and minimize wastage to maintain budgetary control. Enforce compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness regulations. Maintain kitchen equipment and oversee regular maintenance. 3. Guest Experience: Interact with guests to gather feedback and adapt menus as needed to enhance their dining experience. Accommodate special dietary requests and preferences with care and attention to detail. Requirements: Chef Diploma 3 years of experience in a similar role Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role. Exceptional cooking and plating skills, passionate about creating memorable meals. Strong understanding of kitchen management practices and inventory control. Ability to lead and inspire a team in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of South African and international cuisine is highly desirable. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role. Exceptional cooking and plating skills, passionate about creating memorable meals. Strong understanding of kitchen management practices and inventory control. Ability to lead and inspire a team in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of South African and international cuisine is highly desirable. Formal culinary training or equivalent experience. Certification in food safety and hygiene. Previous experience in a luxury hospitality setting is an advantage.
