Head of Software

As Head of Software Engineering, you will drive the entire software development cycle (including design, development, integration, and maintenance) of software components, support system integration and testing for all projects across the company, and provide strategic vision, inspiration, as well as lead and grow the software team. You will collaborate cross-functionally with executive leadership, program management, related disciplines, and mission teams to ensure seamless integration of ground systems with flight operations. Your role involves working with teams across various domains, including space infrastructure, ground infrastructure, and user infrastructure. The software development spans chip level, application level, cloud-based infrastructure, and web-based solutions. Main tasks include: Defining and executing the software development roadmap aligned with Aistech's strategic goals. Overseeing software architecture, design, development, deployment, and maintenance. Managing and mentoring the software engineering team to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Identifying skill needs and leading recruitment efforts. Collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into effective software solutions. Implementing best practices, coding standards, and documentation. Ensuring continuous integration, delivery (CI/CD), and automated testing are embedded into the culture. Defining and implementing robust, reliable, and available software infrastructure. Adding cybersecurity layers to protect against external and internal threats. Evaluating and adopting new technologies, tools, and methodologies. Implementing space standards such as CCSDS and ECSS where applicable. Contributing to strategic technological decisions. Additional responsibilities include: Managing budgets, timelines, resources, and external partnerships. Representing the team in meetings and industry events. Contributing technical insights to publications. Candidate profile — Must: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. At least 10 years of software development experience, including 6 years in managerial roles. Expertise in developing and managing cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Strong knowledge in software architecture, systems design, data engineering, and DevOps. Experience integrating cybersecurity measures. Proven ability to develop high-reliability, high-availability software solutions. Leadership skills in agile project management and cross-team collaboration. Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal). Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Nice to have: Experience with time-series and relational databases. Knowledge of MBSE and process automation. UI and UX development experience. Familiarity with geospatial technologies, remote sensing data, or GIS software. Experience with satellite data processing and analytics platforms. Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning applications for geospatial data. Previous experience in space or remote sensing industries.
