Role: Diesel Gas Path Engineer Location: Gaydon Job Type: Permanant The Role As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer you will s upport the development of the engine /aftertreatment physical base system engineering. In this role you will ensure functions adherence to the use of specified engineering methods, computer tools and aids applied. You will also Support Vehicle, domain and any other indirect team members understanding of the integrated propulsion functions. Your responsibilities: Work on robust requirements and ensure targets delivered on-cycle to programmes. System artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) developed off-cycle and updated on-cycle as required. New functions delivered by statement of capability (SOC) and Feature statement of intent (FSOI) process. System compatibility Issues identified, reported and efficiently resolved. Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross functional issues. Develop methods and run technical studies into future technologies. Analyzing of standard cycles like different test cycles Emission Tests and identifying and solving issues related to Emissions. Your Profile Essential skills/knowledge/experience: Relevant experience in development of electrified propulsion system as MHEV, PHEV. Strong background in Emissions/Gas Path/Aftertreatment. Good experience in emissions or base engine engineers with emissions knowledge including test bed experience. Knowledge understanding the integration of the different Core system - Aftertreatment and GasPath. Hands on experience of Calibrate diesel engine for emissions on dyno with emissions targets. Proven experience with emission calibration and understanding regulations. Good understanding on the Gas path chemistry of ICE engines. Understand calibration knowledge / sensor control. Experience and exposure to CAE on vehicle, propulsion and sub-systems. Experience in defining Test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL and vehicle environment. Full UK or equivalent driving licence. 8D issue resolution and data statistics 6 sigma methods. Good verbal and written communication. Have a track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills. Desirable skills/knowledge/experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or automotive engineering. Previous experience in working in emission calibration. Relevant experience of working in powertrain systems engineering and Gas path. Good understanding on the MHEV system and calibration on different test cycles. CAE experience on vehicle and propulsion sub-systems with exposure to Simulink modelling Experience in the specific area of: Emissions, After-treatment, Gas-path, Base engines, HV Systems, Torque and Energy Arbitration.
