Senior Nodejs Engineer

What is Accountable? Accountable is a young fintech / taxtech company focused on helping the self-employed automate their accounting and taxes through a simple mobile and web app. We have a team of 60 people across offices in Berlin and Brussels, as well as remote locations throughout Europe. Our goal is to create a product that is incredibly easy and fun to use, requiring no prior knowledge of tax or accounting. We are experiencing growth at over 150% annually, aiming to become the European leader in our market. The Job As a Node.js backend engineer, you will join one of our squads. You will collaborate closely with product managers, tax coaches, and other engineers to develop scalable and compliant solutions for self-employed users and accountants. You will be part of a larger engineering team (18-25 developers) and work within a squad led by a Product Owner, responsible for a specific part of the application. Our Stack AWS, Node.js, Express, JS, Typescript, MongoDB, Git Responsibilities Code, maintain, and evolve the current application. Collaborate with the product team on defining, evolving, and maintaining our codebase. Help define strategic initiatives to improve code quality, guidelines, processes, tools, infrastructure, and workflows. Troubleshoot and debug issues using application logs. Review code through Pull Requests. Desired Skills & Experience 5 years of industry experience in back-end development and REST APIs. Proficient in written and spoken English. Expertise in Typescript. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Ability to handle complex engineering problems. Good understanding of modern Typescript/Node.js development methodologies, processes, and tooling. Pragmatic engineering approach balancing seamless user experiences, clean code, maintainability, and time to market. Appreciation for a strong code-review culture. Curious about new technologies and driven to implement them. Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architectures.
