White Horse Employment are delighted to be partnering with a well known local business based in Wells, Somerset , as they seek to appoint a Financial Controller . Working closely with the CEO and wider leadership team, you will take full responsibility for the finance function, leading a small finance team and playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and performance. This is a broad and hands-on role, ideally suited to a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who is confident working across multiple systems and managing change. Main tasks and responsibilities: Lead, manage and develop the finance function, including oversight of a small finance team. Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations Oversee payroll, budgeting, manage cashflow forecasting and statutory audit preparation Act as a key business partner to senior leadership and the parent company Play a key role in the migration to a new system and Maintain accurate records across legacy systems throughout the transition Drive financial governance, process improvement, and reporting excellence across the business What we’re looking for: A qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent) or QBE with strong technical grounding Experience in an SME environment preferred Excellent IT and Excel skills; prior exposure to ERP systems advantageous A hands-on and proactive approach with strong attention to detail Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage at all levels A positive, forward-thinking mindset with a passion for process improvement
