Job Description

Job Summary: The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring that production goals are met with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety. The role will involve managing a team, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise production capacity and minimise waste. You will work closely with other departments, including quality assurance, supply chain, and engineering, to ensure the smooth running of the production process. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Lead and develop a team of manufacturing supervisors, operatives, and technicians. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, ensuring effective communication and a culture of continuous improvement. Production Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring that production schedules are met on time and to the highest standards of quality. Ensure the efficient use of resources and maintain the health and safety of all employees. Continuous Improvement: Lead and champion continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing costs, improving quality, and eliminating waste. Utilise Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify opportunities for process optimisation. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all manufacturing operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Champion safety initiatives and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols. Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high standards of product quality, ensuring compliance with company and industry quality standards. Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions as required. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing operations. Prepare regular reports on production performance, identifying any areas for improvement and proposing actionable solutions. Budget & Cost Management: Manage the manufacturing budget, ensuring that production costs are controlled and within budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and efficient resource utilisation. Qualifications & Skills: A degree or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in a manufacturing management role within the FMCG industry or a similar fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing production issues. Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Desirable: Experience with automated production systems. Relevant certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. Proficiency in manufacturing software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
