Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager with a strong background in leading end-to-end project and service delivery within the financial services sector. This senior role is responsible for financial, vendor, and performance management, as well as team development and capacity planning. The Delivery Manager ensures timely and quality delivery of IT services within agreed SLAs, driving business initiatives and improving agile maturity. Key responsibilities include managing a budget of approximately R10 million, aligning team efforts with business priorities, and optimizing resource allocation. The role also involves overseeing project and BAU budgets, contributing to IT strategy development, and ensuring efficient, defect-free technology solutions that deliver tangible business value. The Delivery Manager works closely with Product Owners, using tools like KANBAN and stand-ups, to manage expectations and ensure successful project delivery. Adaptability to new technologies and ensuring cost-effective execution are critical to success. What you’ll do: Business and Financial Results Management: Contribute to budget planning and ensure optimal resource allocation for departmental goals. Monitor and manage budgets and procurement through effective reporting. Deliver projects on time and within budget using agile methods and strong IT governance. Provide strategic input to departmental business plans in line with IT and business strategies. Deliver business features as defined by stakeholders and prioritised by the product owner. Design system solutions aligned with company architecture and technology roadmaps. Identify risks impacting delivery, including system, people, process, and financial factors. Estimate effort and timelines for delivery to inform planning and business cases. Ensure solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Assist in RFI/RFP processes to select optimal solutions. Manage software licenses to ensure compliance and prevent legal issues. Build trusted relationships with product owners, stakeholders, and executive sponsors. Foster collaboration and respect within teams, embodying company values Ensure clients’ needs are tracked through the development lifecycle, adhering to company standards. Support business and IT alignment, prioritisation, and dependency management. Maintain and present up-to-date roadmaps to align application projects with business strategy. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers Stakeholder Relationship Management Build trusted relationships with product owners, stakeholders, and executive sponsors. Foster collaboration and respect within teams, embodying company values. Ensure client needs are traced through the development lifecycle according to company standards. Support alignment, dependencies, and prioritization across business and IT units. Maintain and present up-to-date roadmaps for application projects aligned with business strategy. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Process Management Advocate for team needs and ensure resources are in place to meet/exceed delivery SLAs. Manage team delivery, identify obstacles, and take corrective action as needed. Coordinate solution design reviews during sprint planning with agile architecture teams. Ensure peer reviews, minimize technical debt, and track in TFS with audit compliance. Align delivery with company architecture roadmaps to uphold vision and strategy. Apply agile architecture practices to speed up delivery and maintain alignment. Oversee planning, delivery, and quality using Agile and DevOps practices across all environments. Contribute to software estimation standards and ensure adherence. Ensure quality via company QA practices, traceability, and reporting. Adhere to methodologies, processes, and documentation standards. Ensure consistent application of business analysis, solution design, development, and testing. Manage staff/resource plans and clear work allocation to achieve business goals. Develop and manage vendor contracts at the SLA level, ensuring performance accountability. Implement tools for optimal 2nd and 3rd line application support and batch operations. Resolve technical issues within SLAs and manage escalations. Participate in root cause analysis and incident management. Plan release trains and production deployments. Maintain System Operations Manuals (SOM) and ensure testing before deployment. Ensure adherence to change and release processes, and support business continuity and disaster recovery. Maintain clear communication on workload and resource capacity for better planning and prioritization. Contribute to business cases for key initiatives. Manage technology lifecycle and align with strategic objectives. Facilitate SCRUM rituals and lead agile practices to improve team productivity. Coach teams on agile adoption and collaborate on continuous improvement. Drive automation and AI/ML to optimize operations and reduce risks. Team Management Align team with company vision and divisional strategy. Remove obstacles to team performance and ensure accountability for success. Lead recruitment and onboarding to embed company values and culture. Assess skills and development areas, creating tailored development plans. Set clear job profiles, performance agreements, and measurable goals. Conduct performance reviews to track progress and define action plans. Motivate the team by valuing diversity, fostering respect, and driving performance. Uphold and model company values, holding the team accountable. Build trust through consistency, honesty, and support. Improve team efficiency through cross-training, coaching, and automation. Drive team performance with company’s performance management and development practices. Support the growth of cross-functional teams and prevent key person risks. Transformation and Innovation Management Support business optimization and improvements through team engagement. Foster innovation by listening to team ideas and providing technical expertise. Ensure EE/BEE targets are met through strategic recruitment decisions. Drive the adoption of the company leadership brand. Your expertise: Minimum of 3 – 5 years in a senior Technical leadership role with extensive knowledge of managing multi-disciplined skills . Performance Management, career development planning, financial management essential. Vendor management / supplier management experience required. Strategic planning to deliver business-fit solutions at the appropriate level of cost and quality. Experience with working with "C" level executives and senior managers across multiple business lines.
