Job Description

As an Associate Tailings Engineer , youll play a key role in delivering tailings and geotechnical services for major mining clients. From the design and inspection of mine waste storage facilities to slope stability and seepage analysis, you'll work on a broad scope of engineering challenges. The role includes project management, technical direction, mentoring Junior Engineers, and active contribution to business development. Job Experience & Skills Required: BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering (Honours in Geotechnical Engineering preferred) 8 years post-graduate experience in tailings or geotechnical engineering Strong experience in the design, construction, operation, and closure of mine waste and tailings facilities Proficient in slope stability , seepage , and modelling software (e.g. GeoStudio, Slide, and Plaxis) Familiarity with South African engineering and environmental regulations , including water use and waste management licenses Financial acumen regarding project profitability, WIP, and DSO Skilled in MS Office (advanced Excel), MS Project, and technical reporting Excellent communication skills and ability to develop client relationships Professional registration with ECSA (or in process) A passion for mentoring and growing junior team members We Will Also Consider: Candidates with strong multidisciplinary mine waste project leadership experience Engineers with business development or proposal writing experience Professionals with a track record of delivering innovative tailings solutions Why This Opportunity?: Join one of Africas most diverse and future-focused consulting firms Lead meaningful projects in a growing Mine Waste team Enjoy a supportive culture that fosters accountability and development Competitive remuneration and career advancement opportunities Apply now!
