Post-doc on machine learning and control for robot autonomy in human-robot interaction, Genoa Job Details Project: Ergo-Lean Contract: Collaborator, 2-year temporary contract Location: Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIS) @IIT, Via San Quirico 19d, 16163 Genova, Italy About IIT At IIT, we develop human-centered Science and Technology to address societal challenges and transfer these technologies to production and society. Our headquarters in Genoa are interconnected with 11 centers across Italy and US-based outstations, fostering an interdisciplinary environment. Team and Research Focus You will work in a multicultural, multidisciplinary group comprising biomedical, mechanical, automation, electrical engineers, computational scientists, and computer technicians. The research focuses on control (e.g., adaptive and robust controllers) and machine learning (e.g., deep reinforcement learning) for controlling mobile collaborative robots in interactive tasks with humans. Main Responsibilities Theoretical and practical research on control and ML for HRI using fixed- and mobile-base collaborative robots. Testing and validation of algorithms and hardware solutions. Supervision of PhD and MSc students. Preparation of grants and supporting lab activities. Essential Requirements PhD in a relevant field such as robot planning, control, or physical human-robot interaction. Proficiency in C++ and Python. Experience with ROS and version control tools (git). Strong publication record and ability to organize and publish research data. Experience in coaching junior scientists. Good command of spoken and written English. Additional Skills Experience with environmental, wearable, and biomarker sensing devices. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Motivation to learn, innovative spirit, and good time management. Ability to work independently and in a team within a challenging, international, interdisciplinary environment.
