DevOps Engineer - VMware

Job Title : DevOps Engineer (Windows, VMware) Location : Bangalore, India (Local Candidates Preferred) Notice Period : Immediate to 15 Days About the Job : We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bangalore. In this role, you will be instrumental in building, automating, and maintaining our critical infrastructure and deployment pipelines, with a strong emphasis on Windows and VMware environments. You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of DevOps principles, a passion for automation, and hands-on experience with a variety of technologies, including Windows Server, VMware virtualization, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code practices. Responsibilities : - Design, implement, and manage robust and efficient CI/CD pipelines for both Windows and Linux-based applications. - Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration within VMware environments using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools. - Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, including patching, security hardening, and performance monitoring. - Administer and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual networks. - Implement and manage containerization solutions using Kubernetes and Docker, with an understanding of microservices architecture. - Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Shell scripting to streamline operational tasks. - Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for both public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and private cloud environments (OpenStack). - Gain hands-on experience with OpenShift and OpenStack for container orchestration and private cloud management. - Collaborate with development teams to integrate automation and DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle. - Work closely with security teams to implement security best practices within the CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure. - Monitor system performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues. - Participate in on-call rotations as needed to ensure the availability of critical systems. - Document processes and procedures related to infrastructure, deployments, and automation. - Continuously research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve our DevOps practices. Primary Skills & Qualifications : - Strong understanding of DevOps principles and methodologies, including Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). - Proven experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar. - Solid expertise in managing and administering Windows Server environments. - Extensive experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter. - Core knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies such as Docker, with an understanding of microservices architecture. - Fundamental understanding of Linux operating systems and KVM virtualization. - Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python and Shell scripting. - Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation for both public and private cloud environments. - Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desired (Good to Have) : - Hands-on experience with OpenShift and OpenStack platforms. - Experience with configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet. - Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies. - Experience with cloud security best practices. - Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
