Lead an engineering team partnering with Linux engineers from a major silicon company, working across the full Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimise Ubuntu for the latest silicon. This fast-paced, problem-solving role is challenging and exciting. The ideal candidate must be resourceful, articulate, and capable of delivering solutions across PC and IoT technologies. Our teams collaborate with engineers from major silicon companies to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware. As a Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical, your role involves managing relationships with key technology partners, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones. Technical leadership and a background in software engineering are prerequisites. You will lead, challenge, and develop engineers, influence company culture, facilitate technical delivery, and strategize with your team. What you'll do Lead a distributed team to design and implement Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server hardware platforms and software stacks. Engage with commercial partners to deliver an optimised, first-class Ubuntu experience on their platforms. Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback. Oversee commercial engagements and support timely project delivery. Maintain strict quality and reliability standards. Coordinate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps. Work remotely with global travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks. Who you are Experienced with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server hardware. Skilled in working directly with customers, resolving technical issues, understanding business challenges, and communicating solutions effectively. Have managed or led a team of software engineers. Familiar with agile software development methodologies. Collaborate effectively across teams, building trust and delivering results. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral. Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology-related field.
