The applications in which our products are used are typically in the higher-performance, higher-power segments of the market segments we serve. Our products are sold worldwide to customers ranging from small to large global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), their contract manufacturers (CM’s) and internationally to distributors who support their supply chains. Our Advanced Products serve customers concentrated in the High Performance Computing, Aerospace and Defense, Industrial and Automotive markets. Applications range from powering advanced processors in server motherboards and artificial intelligence accelerator cards and systems, server rack power conversion, radar systems, industrial automation, instrumentation, test equipment, solid state lighting, telecommunications and networking infrastructure, and mild hybrid and pure electric vehicle (EV) automobiles. Our Brick Products serve customers in aerospace and defense electronics, industrial automation, industrial equipment, instrumentation and test equipment, and transportation (notably in rail and heavy equipment applications). Job description: Job Summary The Power Engineer - Datacenter Systems will be involved in the verification testing of new systems, the design and prototyping of demonstration boards and reference designs, development of application notes and tools, direct customer support. Job Description • Working independently and with other members of the Datacenter Systems and Product Development teams on the various projects involving Vicor power components. • Designing, simulating, prototyping, testing, and optimizing custom circuitry with Vicor products. • Conducting bench testing of new products at a system level. • Evaluating new products in support of datasheet development • Assisting in the development of reference designs and evaluation of printed circuit boards. • Working as part of a team in defining new products in support of new applications. • Supporting Product Development’s participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts. • Troubleshooting and optimizing customer systems that use Vicor Power Components Education / Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering • Excellent understanding of analog design and an analytical approach to engineering required. • Some experience in Power Electronics design or applications engineering strongly preferred • Troubleshooting skills with basic power systems a plus • Comfortable with lab equipment used in the characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, Network Analyzers, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting at a very technical level in front of customers • Some understanding of feedback and control systems, electromagnetic interference (EMI), digital (e.g. PIC microcontroller) design, and simulation tools would be a plus. • Familiarity with CAD and office tools (Altium, Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) a plus, if not, a willingness to learn and adopt the use of software tools in support of job function. Vicor is an EO employer – M/F/Veteran/Disability Salary Range $80,400 - $115,500 Please note: This range is based on our current market driven pay structures. Individual salaries are determined based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, a candidates overall qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience as well as company internal equity.
