Position Overview The Senior Specialist, Accounting & Budgeting will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis for federal awards, grants, and other funding sources. This role will ensure accurate financial management and compliance with grant terms, collaborating closely with program teams and leadership. Additionally, this individual will manage financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting, while providing insights to aid decision-making and supporting the development of grant and organizational budgets. Location This position is based in Washington, DC near McPherson Square Metro as part of a hybrid environment with Tuesdays, Thursdays, and sometimes Wednesdays in the office. Responsibilities Oversee budget management processes, ensuring accurate tracking of actual results against budgets. Provide financial guidance and collaborate with program teams to support budget management and compliance. Prepare and submit federal financial reports and payment requisitions with required documentation. Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations. Contribute to the successful implementation of an ERP system. Support the development and enforcement of financial policies and procedures. Assist with external audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis. Perform additional duties as assigned to meet organizational needs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience Experience in nonprofit accounting Experience with federal grant reporting requirements and budgeting processes Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously How to Apply Interested applicants may submit their cover letter and resume online at https://ncrc.org/careers/.
