Job Description Job Description Swiss Machinist & Programmer Positions Location: Lino Lakes, MN First Shift: 7AM - 4PM Second Shift: 3:30PM - 1:30AM (15% Shift Diffeential) Position Overview: Our company is seeking two highly skilled individuals to join our Swiss Machining team: a Set-Up/Operator Machinist and a CNC Programmer . Both positions will work with Citizen L20, M32, and K16 Swiss lathes to produce high-precision components, primarily for the medical device industry. These roles are crucial for ensuring efficient, high-quality production while adhering to ISO 13485 standards. Key Responsibilities for Both Roles: Set up, operate, and maintain Swiss lathes (Citizen L20, M32, K16) to produce precision medical device components. Perform machine setups , including tool selection, offsets, and adjustments for both new production orders and legacy parts. Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal machine performance. Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure longevity and consistent performance. Perform visual and dimensional inspections using tools such as microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, comparators, Micro-Vu, CMM, and vision systems to ensure parts meet strict specifications. Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to refine manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, quality, and cycle times. Document all inspections, process controls, and material traceability to maintain compliance with ISO 13485 and GMP standards. Mentor and train less experienced machinists , fostering skill development and process knowledge. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing quality, reducing scrap, and enhancing overall machining efficiency. Ensure compliance with safety regulations , including OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and company safety policies. Specific Responsibilities for the Swiss Set-Up/Operator Machinist: Set up and operate Swiss lathes to produce high-precision parts in a medical device manufacturing environment. Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to optimize production with minimal supervision. Troubleshoot complex machine issues , driving problem-solving activities to improve production processes. Maintain material control and traceability for both conforming and nonconforming materials. Ensure a safe work environment by following all company safety guidelines and policies. Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve machining challenges. Specific Responsibilities for the Swiss CNC Programmer/Machinist: Program Swiss lathes using ESPRIT software (or similar software), optimizing programs for new and existing parts. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining challenges to ensure minimal downtime and process stability. Work with engineering to develop new manufacturing processes and implement improvements. Assist in tool selection, offsets, and setup to ensure the highest efficiency and precision. Track and document programs, inspections, and process changes within ERP and QMS systems. Drive process optimization initiatives for improved workflow and tool life. Qualifications for Both Roles: Swiss CNC machining experience (3-7 years for Set-Up/Operator; 5 years for Programmer). Expertise in tight tolerance machining and GD&T principles . Experience in medical device manufacturing and familiarity with ISO 13485 and GMP requirements. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve machine and process issues. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Proficiency in machine math/shop math and using hand tools for maintenance and tool changes. Strong understanding of quality standards and ability to maintain documentation in compliance with ISO 13485 and GMP. Physical Demands for Both Roles: Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel , and lift up to 50 pounds (with team or mechanical assistance for heavier loads). Capable of performing repetitive hand and arm movements , including gripping, twisting, and handling small components for extended periods. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-precision manufacturing environment with a focus on quality and detail. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and work in environments with potential exposure to oils, solvents, and machining dust.
