Job Description

We are searching for an Engineer Performance Manager to join our team. You'll develop relationships with the engineers, understanding what motivates them, and acting as a gateway to their success. Your focus will be on optimising both their technical and personal development in the workplace. At Opticore IT , a well-rounded engineer is not necessarily the most technical person in the room, but someone who demonstrates a balance of technical excellence, collaboration, and strong interpersonal skills. As EPM, you will champion this holistic development model. What you'll be doing: Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and formal reviews with engineers to assess their performance against agreed objectives. Develop and track Individual Development Plans (IDPs) that focus on both technical growth and soft skill development, ensuring engineers are consistently progressing towards their career goals. Implement a structured approach to monitor engineer performance, using a combination of objective data points and subjective feedback. Act as the central point of contact between the engineering team, account managers, technical assurance, and other departments. Ensure clear, consistent, and timely communication flows across all teams, maintaining alignment between business objectives and engineer activities. Support the operational effectiveness of the engineering team, ensuring engineers are properly aligned to assignments, have clear deliverables, and are supported with the resources they need to succeed. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing processes, gathering feedback from engineers, and identifying ways to enhance performance management, communication, and the engineer support mechanism. Promote and embed Opticore’s values within the engineering team, fostering a culture of professionalism, collaboration, respect, and personal ownership. What you'll bring: A history of people management, including one-to-one meetings, formal performance reviews, and end-of-year appraisals. Demonstrated ability to create and manage Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to monitor, coach, and support engineers’ career progression. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business functions. High attention to detail, ensuring consistency, fairness, and follow-through in all aspects of engineer management and support. Strong active listening skills, with the ability to fully engage in conversations and understand the needs of individuals, clients, and the wider team. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Confident handling conflict resolution, providing fair and balanced outcomes that support both the individual and the business.
