Job Description

Permanent full-time position in a great location Flexible working conditions and ongoing opportunities for training and career development Be involved in one of TMR's largest transport infrastructure programs Key responsibilities Conduct fatal and serious injury traffic crash investigations and prepare detailed reports based on field observations, research and analysis of available information.Lead, develop, guide and manage the traffic investigation team. Allocate work and resources, program, review and monitor timelines and investigations and reports. Identify improvements to team resourcing and skills. Provide mentoring, training and achievement planning to team members and initiate submissions for additional resources where identified.Managing funding allocations for road signing and delineation, including forecasting of expenditure, cost management and the management of ordered works processes.Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Queensland Police Service, in particular the Fatal Crash Unit, to ensure that QPS investigating officers seek consultation with Main Roads in making road related recommendations prior to submitting their report to the coroner.Provide expert specialist advice to internal and external customers regarding fatal and serious injury traffic crashes, road signing and pavement marking matters such as legislation and policy requirements.Review relative traffic policy and guidelines and provide authoritative advice and recommendations to policy owners. Attend and represent the District and Main Roads at various meetings, committees and workshops regarding traffic legislation, policy, guidelines and standards.Prepare and oversee preparation of general correspondence, Ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, reports in a timely manner and to the departments' professional standards. Mandatory Qualifications And Conditions Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role. Requirements of the role Desirable: A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.Desirable: Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, road safety or a related discipline.Desirable: Relevant qualifications in the location, identification and treatment of crash locations.Ability to conduct traffic investigations and develop remedial treatments into customer enquiries regarding speed limit setting, road signing, pavement marking, delineation and general road safety concerns regarding intersections, driveways and pedestrian crossing infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the T MR technical standards applicable to road signing and pavement marking.Demonstrated ability to safely conduct site inspections.Demonstrated ability to manage a program of traffic investigations and remediation treatments and coordinating resources from a small team of officers.High level working knowledge of relevant legislation, engineering policies and standards related to the work undertaken by the Traffic Investigations unit.Please refer to role description for more requirements of the role.
