About the opportunity: Position: Senior Clinical Coder Vacancy: Permanent full-time Location: Clinical Coding Unit, Townsville University Hospital An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Clinical Coder to join the Clinical Coding team at Townsville Hospital and Health Service. The purpose of this role will be to provide timely and accurate coding of inpatient episodes of care. This involves accurate abstraction of relevant information from the integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) and other associated clinical information systems, and assignment of accurate codes in accordance with the Australian Coding Standards. Requirements: Two years clinical coding experience. Highly desirable successful completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Diploma of Clinical Coding (or equivalent) OR successful completion of Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent). This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis. Probation period may apply.
