Job Overview We are seeking an experienced, motivated and resourceful person to join our Global Business Development team in Singapore as a Global Trade Director, Infrastructure & Cleantech for the Indo-Pacific. In this role, you will leverage your extensive regional and professional networks, business development skills, personal industry expertise and knowledge of Canadian capabilities and global supply chains to generate and nurture new business opportunities for Canadian exporters and investors. The Global Trade Director will work with a virtual team to establish relationships with leading buyers in the Indo Pacific region, assess their procurement needs and introduce Canda's most innovative suppliers and service providers with the goal of promoting and introducing these Canadian companies to business opportunities in the region. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of sector, international procurement practices and some knowledge of Canadian capabilities in the Infrastructure and Cleantech sectors. This expertise will be applied across a spectrum of industry verticals where companies are aggressively seeking solutions to address the need for low-carbon energy, scarcity of water and other natural resources while decreasing the carbon intensity of their operation. Responsibilities Establish the Canada brand in the Indo Pacific infrastructure and cleantech sectors and create opportunities for integration and collaboration with Team Canada (the Trade Commissioner Service, Invest in Canada, Provinces, etc.). Develop strategies and relationships to expand sales opportunities for Canadian exporters in the Indo Pacific region with targeted large/top tier buyers and prospects by developing a deep understanding of their business challenges, procurement needs and matching them with Canadian capabilities. Contribute to the development of buyer account plans and trade creation strategies. Maintain and expand EDC’s network with large buyers focusing on senior procurement influencers and decision makers. Contribute to EDC’s Business Connections target by leading all elements of creating trade opportunities including buyer introductions to Canadian exporters, supply chain assessments, matchmaking, etc. Provide deep expertise on the technical capabilities and competitiveness of Canadian companies. Represent the voice of clients or prospects to Canadian companies with regards to procurement opportunities. Develop marketing and knowledge products in support of growing the awareness of market opportunities for Canadian exporters in the Indo Pacific region. Work with various internal EDC teams to keep current on emerging Canadian technologies and capabilities and gather market intelligence in specified sector(s) of expertise. Create trade opportunities for Canadian exporters to generate opportunities for EDC to support Canadian exporters with our financing and risk mitigation services. Screening Criteria Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent professional designation) in relevant discipline and/or Degree in Business Administration / Finance that has been coupled with relevant experience. Minimum 8 years of combined business development and account management experience in infrastructure and cleantech verticals. Advanced knowledge of best practices in sales and/or account management. Well-developed and deep global professional network and strong technical and business knowledge acquired through direct relevant business activity. Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead virtual teams. Skills & Knowledge Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation). Negotiation skills (external and/or internal). Deep sector and sector specific technical knowledge. Strong business development experience (preferably international). Strong relationship management and networking skills. Asset Ability to communicate in both official languages (English and French), as well as any other Asian languages. Salary Range Business Development 19-S\: salaries typically range from SGD$142,500 - $190,000 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance- based incentive Location This position is based at our Singapore branch office located at the Marina Bay Financial Centre, Singapore.
