General Description of the area The Packaging Engineer is part of the Hill's EMEA Packaging team, which supports and collaborates with Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, R&D, and other functional teams. The team focuses on technical and innovative solutions, continuous improvement, funding growth, innovation, and sustainability. The team operates across different EU regions to provide local and regional expertise for quick validation and commercialization. Key Responsibilities of the role Collaborate with Plant operations, Marketing, R&D, Procurement, and other teams to develop and implement complex packaging projects with minimal supervision. Initiate and coordinate line trials and post-trial activities; lead technical discussions with suppliers and plant staff. Record and analyze test data; prepare reports with recommendations and conclusions. Understand the relationship between material performance and final package performance; master validation and creation of new packaging specifications. Identify and evaluate opportunities in design trends, innovation, and new developments from suppliers and competitors. Skills and Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science, or relevant technical field. At least 3 years of experience in packaging, preferably in food packaging. Experience with rigid and flexible packaging for retorted products. Ability to work under stress, evaluate and manage risks, troubleshoot, and communicate openly. Basic Requirements Proficiency in English (verbal and written). Proficiency with platforms such as Google Mail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, SAP or similar ERP systems, and Cape Pack or similar packaging palletizing software.
