Halma India - Senior Automation Engineer - Java/Selenium

Position Overview : We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of robust automated testing frameworks for our software and systems. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through strategic automation, continuous integration, and continuous testing initiatives. As a senior member of the QA team, you will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to architectural decisions that impact automation strategy and product quality at Responsibilities Framework Development : - Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reusable automation frameworks for functional, regression, and performance testing. - Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and faster delivery cycles. - Develop custom tools and scripts to automate test execution, results analysis, and Strategy & Planning : - Define and drive the overall automation strategy in alignment with product development goals. - Identify and prioritize test cases for automation based on risk, criticality, and business impact. - Review and analyze system specifications and requirements to develop effective automation & Reporting : - Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, etc. - Analyze test failures, isolate bugs, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues. - Generate test coverage metrics, test execution reports, and quality & Mentoring : - Work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure high quality in Agile development cycles. - Mentor and guide junior QA and automation engineers on best practices in test automation and scripting. - Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and quality gate Skills Required Tools & Frameworks : - Proficient in at least one test automation framework: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, Robot Framework, etc. - Hands-on experience with test runners and libraries: TestNG, JUnit, Mocha, & Scripting Languages : - Strong coding skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or TypeScript. - Experience building custom test utilities and automation & CI/CD : - Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bamboo, CircleCI). - Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or virtual test environments for scalable Types : - Functional, Regression, Integration, Smoke, API, and Performance testing. - Proficiency in REST API testing using tools like Postman, RestAssured, Control & Tools : - Strong knowledge of Git, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket for source control and code collaboration. - Experience with test management tools: Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, Testing (Optional but Valuable) : - Familiarity with JMeter, Gatling, or Locust for performance/load : - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - 5 years of experience in software testing with at least 3 years in test automation. - Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch. - Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test design, and software Qualifications : - ISTQB or similar QA certification. - Experience testing web, mobile, cloud-based, or microservices architectures. - Exposure to Agile/Scrum/Kanban software development Skills : - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Leadership and mentoring abilities. - Detail-oriented and self-driven with a commitment to excellence. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving tech environment (ref:hirist.tech)
