Halma India - Engineer - Embedded Testing

Position Overview : We are seeking a meticulous and technically proficient Embedded Testing Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for validating the functionality, reliability, and performance of embedded systems across a range of products. You will be instrumental in designing test plans, creating automated and manual test cases, identifying defects, and collaborating with development teams to ensure our embedded software and hardware components meet the highest standards of quality. Key Responsibilities Planning & Execution : - Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases based on product requirements, specifications, and design documents. - Conduct functional, regression, system, integration, and stress testing of embedded software and hardware components. - Identify, document, and track defects and inconsistencies using bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, & Tools Development : - Design and implement automated test frameworks and scripts for embedded systems using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell). - Create test benches, hardware-in-loop (HIL) or software-in-loop (SIL) environments for real-time testing. - Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and protocol analyzers to validate hardware-software interactions. Embedded System Validation : - Validate firmware and software for microcontrollers, SoCs, and peripherals. - Test communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Modbus, Ethernet, or Bluetooth. - Perform board-level testing, hardware bring-up, and support debugging activities with hardware design engineers. Collaboration & Reporting : - Work closely with embedded developers, system architects, and QA teams to understand requirements and identify corner cases. - Provide regular test reports, traceability matrices, and quality metrics. - Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and quality standards. Required Qualifications : - 5-6 years of hands-on experience in embedded software or hardware testing. - Solid understanding of embedded systems, RTOS concepts, microcontroller architectures (ARM, PIC, AVR, etc.). - Experience with debugging tools and lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.). - Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems and scripting languages like Python or Shell for test automation. - Knowledge of test case management and bug tracking tools (e.g., TestRail, JIRA, HP ALM). - Familiarity with communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, etc. Preferred Qualifications : - Experience in domains such as automotive, IoT, consumer electronics, or medical devices. - Exposure to standards like ISO 26262 (automotive), IEC 62304 (medical), or DO-178C (avionics). - Experience with continuous integration (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo. - Familiarity with static code analysis tools and unit test frameworks.
