Credit Underwriter

InterQuest are supporting an International bank who are looking for a Credit Underwriter to join their team. You'll be responsible for reviewing retail loan and savings applications in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. You'll assess creditworthiness using a range of data sources, including credit bureau reports, income verification documents, and affordability assessments. Your insights will directly contribute to maintaining a strong risk framework while enhancing the overall customer experience. Key Responsibilities: Assess loan and savings applications within the company’s risk appetite and regulatory framework Analyse supporting documents such as bank statements, ID, income verification, and credit reports Make balanced, well-informed underwriting decisions using both internal systems and external tools (e.g., CIFAS, AML databases) Identify potential fraud and ensure compliance with all relevant financial crime and FCA regulations Communicate effectively with customers and retail partners throughout the onboarding process Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, helping to refine underwriting processes and policies Work cross-functionally with teams in Risk, Product, and Customer Service to deliver efficient outcomes Provide evening and weekend cover as part of a flexible workweek Essential Skills Experience of Credit Underwriting within a retail lending environment.
