Job Description

The Director of Workforce Development is a key role in the senior leadership team in the School of Health and Social Wellbeing and has strategic oversight for partnerships, workforce development strategies, practice placements, and clinical and simulated practice provision across the School. The role involves building and developing relationships with key stakeholders both internally to the University and externally in the NHS, DHSC, private care providers, Further Education partners, and more broadly to shape and develop the Schools educational provision to ensure it is forward-focused and meets regional and national workforce need. The School of Health and Social Wellbeing is a large and diverse School offering provision across the scope of health and care provision including diverse Allied Healthcare Professions, Nursing and Midwifery, Social Work, Public and Environmental Health. With over 6500 students on campus and more based at our educational partners, the role holder will enjoy a diverse and varied role, developing and implementing strategies for expanding capacity and resilience, as well as exploring new roles, programmes, and partnerships both nationally and internationally. About you You will be an experienced academic with extensive knowledge of the health and care sector and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges. You will be skilled in developing and managing practice placement activity and working effectively, and developing relationships, with varied internal and external stakeholders regionally, nationally, and internationally. You will be an accomplished academic leader with experience working at a senior level. You will have experience of working in, and leading, diverse teams and managing people. You will be adept at managing operational challenges, whilst also developing strategic approaches and innovations. You will work collaboratively and will mentor and support others to strive for continuous improvement and innovation. Where is this role based?
