Job Description
Salary: The starting salary is £68,295, which includes allowances totalling £2,928. The salary is broken down as £65,367 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale - £70,012. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000. Location / Hybrid Working: This role is based in our Bow Location but there may be a need for you to attend offsite meetings as required by the business. We actively support hybrid working solutions, with the expectation that you will have 2 days working at home. The Role: We are looking for a Strategic Infrastructure Architect to join the Met Police’s internal architecture team within DDaT. This role is not focused on technical delivery or hands-on design work. Instead, it offers the opportunity to shape the future direction of infrastructure services across the organisation through the creation and management of strategic artefacts, governance frameworks and architectural principles. This is a pivotal role for someone who can think strategically, understand the broad technology landscape, and help guide infrastructure decisions across a complex and evolving environment. What we’re looking for: We are not looking for someone with deep technical expertise in a single area. Instead, we need someone who understands how large-scale infrastructure fits together and can bring strategic thinking, good judgment, and strong communication skills to the table. You will likely have: A broad understanding of enterprise infrastructure (across areas such as data centres, cloud, networking and end-user services) Experience in writing architectural or technical governance documents, policies or standards A background in technical business analysis, architecture governance, or strategy Experience working with delivery partners or outsourced IT functions Confidence working with ambiguity and shaping direction in a large, complex environment Awareness of frameworks like TOGAF or Zachman (formal certification is helpful but not essential) A collaborative, forward-thinking mindset Why join us?
