Senior Underwriter (Civil Engineering)

Underwriter Must have engineering experience. Underwrite, rating and risk analysis and quote on new business. Feedback on market intelligence including trends in respect of cover and rates. Respond to queries and resolve them satisfactorily within scope of authority. General administration which entails following up on quotations and renewals, checking that policies are processed and sent out and corresponding with brokers. Time Management Underwriting (Endorsements, Amendments, Cancellations, Queries) Requirements Must Have a Civil Engineering Degree Must have Matric Must be FAIS compliant or be prepared to study towards relevant Regulatory Examination and Insurance qualification. More than 5 years underwriting experience (This is NOT a data capturing/processing position) Must be able to analyse and assess risks. Must have attention to detail. Must be client focused and very service orientated. Must have good communication skills. Must have good negotiation skills including initiative. Must be a team player. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft WORD and EXCEL. Product knowledge and knowledge of wordings is an advantage. This person will not issue policies and make amendments to policies on the system as that is the function of a processor. This person will be office bound and not go out to market
