Make an Impact by Knowledgeable in both Mechanical services specifically in ACMV system, Hydraulic system and thermodynamics refrigeration cycle. Competent to perform various engineering calculations (i.e. cooling load calculation, hydraulic calculation, etc.), equipment sizing (i.e. chiller, pump, cooling tower, air handler) and selection of equipment. Resourceful in continuously exploring for new engineering systems and/or technology for Data Centre application to enhance or improve overall performance, lower energy and water consumption, increase operation productivity and reduce total cost of ownership. Proposes some Electrical engineering knowledge enabling the ability to read and understand SLD, Electrical distribution layout and basic equipment electrical specification requirements to liaise with Electrical and commissioning counterparts for work deliveries. Liaise with internal business units and external customers for technical requirements to translate into executable plans for implementation by consultants and/or contractors. Knowledgeable in Building Management System/DCIM, able to understand system architecture and point schedule. Experience in handling BMS/DCIM enhancement projects. Design: ability to deliver building services design such as Fire Protection System, Plumbing & Sanitary System, ACMV system, etc. Review data centre-specific design and construction drawings. Construction Support: attend site meetings, review Mechanical service shop drawings and as-built drawings, prepare RFIs, and turnover documentation. Provide technical support to Project Manager for mechanical engineering matters such as conducting site quality checks on installed mechanical systems, identifying site defects, and verifying system performance. Commissioning: critique data centre commissioning scripts to ensure they accurately test all modes of operations. Witness key commissioning tests on site. Engineering study: Perform technical reviews for new engineering solutions for implementation in data centres, prepare assessment reports and make recommendations to management to adopt proposed solutions. Liaise with Energy and Sustainability manager to examine and assess systems design and equipment selection for operating efficiency with low energy and water consumption to drive low PUE and WUE for all our DCs. Knowledgeable in local building codes and regulations including Life Safety Systems. Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases. Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems. Conduct site inspections and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, and start-up as needed. Collaborate with the core team to understand, develop and update the data centre mechanical designs, starting from basis of design (BOD) to issue for constructions (IFC) documents, for new data centre project buildouts and major infrastructure upgrades to all levels of testing and commissioning works. Perform as engineering subject matter expert to work with consultants during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, SAT, delivery, and installation on site. Identify and resolve issues raised by the cross-functional teams. Update and maintain the internal design specifications, drawings, and standards in accordance with the latest configurations and including all 'lessons learned' in relation to all equipment. Provide and prepare all types of reports and documents including statement of work, engineering reports, design documents, total cost of ownership analysis, drawing markup, budget, schedule, commissioning, design specification, etc. Staff may be assigned to support overseas assignments. Any other relevant works not stated above may be assigned. Skills for Success Minimum 8 years of working experience with at least 5 years in Data Centre/mission critical design experience. Candidates with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in Data Centre field with strong design and solutioning experience will be considered for senior roles. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant discipline. Good understanding of critical data centre mechanical and electrical systems. Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications/data sheets, design, equipment selection and construction specifications and drawings. Possess leadership and problem-solving skills. Be a motivated, highly dependable individual. Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facility’s mechanical infrastructure systems. An ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability. Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and maintain high quality standards. The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high-level review. Must be fluent (read/write/speak) in English. Any other language is an advantage. Knowledge of building codes and regulations. Coordinate with project teams on matters related to Environmental Sustainability and green rating and building performances. Preparation of PowerPoint for technical presentation of various kinds.
