Purpose of the role As the Global Corporate & Institutional Banking (GCIB) Asia franchise matures into providing more content and advisory to its strategic clients, we are constantly looking for additional product/solution content that allows us to differentiate MUFG and drive conversation with the clients’ C-Suite. This has led to establishing a product-agnostic and relationship-focused Sponsor Coverage team, adding value to the firm’s deepest relationships and delivering multi-product opportunities for the bank with high returns. The position reports to the Head of Sponsor Coverage and locally to the Head of Institutional Investor Coverage. This is a coverage role to: (1) support the coverage strategy for the Sponsor client segment in Asia; (2) implement and execute the strategy; (3) actively manage and pursue relationships with Sponsor clients in Singapore and the region, as part of the broader Global Corporate & Institutional Banking strategy. The main focus will be on originating and developing sustainable, multi-product relationships and increasing revenue from the portfolio. This resource will drive the build-out of the Sponsors business in the region, own product/structuring discussions, and manage client requirements. They should be familiar with sector buying behavior and common structures/products used by sponsors, including expanding business with Core and Infrastructure strategies, digital and renewables, aligning team capabilities with sponsor regional and asset growth strategies (PE, Infra, RE, Credit, OtD). Products include fund financing, secured asset financing, project finance, leveraged asset financing, among others. The economic benefit to MUFG includes fee premiums, diversified revenue, cross-selling, and content provision. Job Responsibilities Strategic Contribute to creating and implementing the strategy for the Sponsor client segment with relevant stakeholders; engage with senior stakeholders to garner support for its execution. Manage target clients through deep account planning; collaborate with product partners to market and deliver MUFG’s global products and services. Financial Achieve revenue targets at segment and client levels; manage the balance sheet and exceed ROE targets. Customer Engage directly with clients as needed; develop and promote new business opportunities; maintain and review account plans; introduce clients to MUFG and partner banks; explore new cross-regional opportunities; support credit processes including applications, reviews, covenant checks, negotiations, and documentation. People Leverage global MUFG strength; value contributions; develop oneself and others; foster innovation. Other/Control Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory requirements; proactively manage risks and controls; maintain internal controls to prevent unsafe practices. Job Requirements Degree qualification Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing global and regional client relationships, including 3 years as a Relationship Manager Experience in banking, coverage, advisory, or product roles for at least 10 years Strong stakeholder management skills and knowledge of local finance laws and regulations Deep understanding of Sponsor business and credit analysis skills At least 5 years’ experience in Project Management CFA / CAIA charter preferred MUFG is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and merit-based hiring.
