Chiesi Global Manufacturing Division Chiesi Group has three production plants: Parma (Italy); Blois-La Chaussée-Saint-Victor (France); Santana de Parnaíba (Brazil). The plants produce a total of over 110 million units per year. The production plant in Parma covers a total area of more than fifteen thousand square meters and it is the strategic hub for the production and distribution of our products, being an international supply center that exports to more than 80 countries. The Parma plant produces solid medicinal products, such as tablets and inhaled dry powders; inhalation solutions and suspensions, either pressurized or sterile single-dose vials; vials of sterile suspension for endotracheal administration; liquid forms such as drops, syrups and nasal sprays. Santana produces pressurized solutions and suspensions for inhalant therapy (MDIs) and supplies both domestic market and Group’s Affiliates and exports to licensees and distributors. Blois specializes in Dry Powder Inhalers and final assembly stages of the Metered-Dose Inhalers (MDIs), supplies Group’s Affiliates and distributes directly to clients at a local level and in export markets. Who we are looking for Purpose The person will be included in the Global Process Engineering team and will be focused on managing and coordinating the life cycle management of external platforms, analyzing the production outputs to ensure they align with the annual requirements. Moreover, the resource will define, in collaboration with other departments, the needs for maintaining the platform at the state of the art. Main Responsibilities • Optimise and validate injection moulding and assembly processes, liaising with external suppliers and providing advice on tooling and capital plant selection; • Understand engineering (component and assembly) and tool drawings, injection mould production methods and inspection/measurement techniques (metrology qualification); • Support tooling scale-up and assembly processes from pilot to big commercial scale, developing knowledge of the critical process by operating parameters and understanding the key quality attributes; • Manage all the aspects of the tool refurbishment, including the management of spares and upgrade of the production platform; • Review and technical evaluation of external partners (Design Consultants / Specialist test consultants / prototype manufacturers); • Act as internal reviewer for design tolerance analysis (component fit and device functions), change request, product upgrade, feasibility of new technical solutions; • Follow the technology transfer processes of new products into commercial manufacturing, offering a key contribution to the delivery new products from R&D to the industrial manufacturing; • Provide engineering/process support to assist in driving new innovative platform technologies into commercial manufacturing facilities, from the user requirement specification to the final validation of the requested equipment; • Review for the explosion risk evaluation, HAZOP analysis, and FMEA review for process and equipment; • Review and write the User Requirement Specification for the equipment procurement, and follow all the design stages, and equipment installation and validation; • Follow the machine upgrade to solve issues observed into the production process; • Manage and follow the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the assembly line; • Keep informed on the development of plants and technologies in the pharma environment. Education Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Experience Required At least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Languages Fluent English (both written and spoken) Technical Skills • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices for the pharma environment, to respect the quality and safety requirements; • Knowledge of the injection molding process and assembly automation; • Knowledge of design and maintenance for the assembly lines; • Knowledge of CAD 3D; • Knowledge of technologies involved in industrial processes; • Knowledge of basic statistics; • Knowledge of tolerance analysis for complex systems.
