Engineering Head

Job Description : Location : Chennai, Corporate Office. Department : Information Technology Role : Head of Engineering. Reports to : Head IT Key Responsibilities : 1. Product Development Leadership : - Oversee ongoing product development for core systems such as Loan Origination, Loan Management, Collections, Financial Accounting, and HRMS. - Lead teams working on diverse technologies, including .NET, Java, Mobile App Development, ensuring products meet business requirements and timelines. - Ensure robust product architecture and seamless integration of various modules to deliver a unified solution for lending operations. 2. Technology and Platform Strategy : - Define and execute technology strategies with a focus on the India Stack digital ecosystem, ensuring that the company adopts tools and frameworks that align with modern digital payments, Aadhaar-based services, and UPI. - Implement and manage cloud-based solutions to support scalable and secure applications (preferably with expertise in AWS or Azure). - Ensure best practices in application security, especially for lending products handling sensitive financial data and transactions. 3. Lending Domain Expertise : - Leverage deep expertise in lending domains such as loan origination, loan management, collections, financial accounting, and HRMS to ensure products and systems are aligned with NBFCs operational needs. - Design systems that are fully compliant with RBI guidelines and other regulatory requirements related to lending, digital payments, and data privacy. 4. Project Implementation & Stakeholder Management : - Lead the execution of ongoing implementations across multiple business units, ensuring smooth delivery of solutions and minimal disruption to daily operations. - Work closely with product, operations, finance, and HR teams to ensure that engineering initiatives are aligned with business goals. - Manage relationships with third-party vendors for system integrations, digital payments, and regulatory compliance solutions. 5. Digital Transformation & Automation : - Drive the digital transformation agenda across the NBFC, integrating Robotic Process Automation (RPA), AI/ML, and data analytics to improve loan processing, underwriting, and decision-making capabilities. - Implement data analytics solutions to derive business insights, optimize lending operations, improve customer experience, and manage risk. 6. Cloud & Application Security : - Ensure all systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with industry standards, utilizing cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) and robust application security protocols. - Regularly evaluate and update security protocols to address emerging threats in the digital lending landscape. 7. India Stack & Digital Payments Integration : - Lead the integration of the India Stack ecosystem, including Aadhaar, UPI, e-KYC, and digital signature capabilities into the NBFCs core platforms. - Ensure seamless integration with digital payment gateways and external partners, enhancing customer experience in loan disbursements, collections, and repayments. 8. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence : - Ensure all engineering projects and implementations comply with RBI regulations, including but not limited to digital lending guidelines, KYC norms, data privacy, and anti-money laundering requirements. - Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure regular audits, reviews, and updates to software systems for regulatory compliance. 9. Third-Party Implementations & Ecosystem Building : - Oversee the implementation of third-party integrations, including CRM systems, payment gateways, credit scoring solutions, and regulatory tech platforms. - Build strategic partnerships with fintech companies, technology vendors, and third- party service providers to expand the company's technical capabilities. 10. Team Leadership & Development : - Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, including developers, architects, DevOps, and QA specialists, ensuring continuous learning and performance optimization. - Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration within the engineering team. 11. Innovation & Continuous Improvement : - Drive innovation through emerging technologies such as AI/ML for underwriting, credit scoring, and risk assessment, and RPA for operational efficiencies. - Identify opportunities for process automation, reducing manual interventions, and improving overall operational efficiency. Qualifications : Education : Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is a plus. Experience : - 15 years of experience in engineering and software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the NBFC, banking, or fintech sectors. - Proven experience in Microsoft .NET, Java, Mobile App development, and cloud computing. - Expertise in lending domains (loan origination, loan management, collections, financial accounting, HRMS). Skills : - Deep understanding of India Stack, digital payments, application security, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). - Knowledge of RPA, AI/ML, data analytics, and RBI regulatory compliance for the financial industry. - Strong experience in managing third-party integrations and vendor relationships. - Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
