Job Description

A leading South African coal and resource group is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical to manage and direct the full lifecycle of medium to large-scale projects from initiation through to ramp-up. This includes design, execution, legal compliance, and performance management aligned to engineering and safety standards. Location: Belfast Contract Type: 12-month Fixed-Term Grade Level: DL Requirements: National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Essential) Project Management Certificate (Essential) Management Development Programme (Essential) Government Certificate of Competency (GCC): Engineering (Advantageous) 6–8 years’ project engineering experience in mining, heavy industry, or production Experience managing full project lifecycle: from scoping to commissioning Familiar with EPCM, SHEQ standards, legal frameworks (MHSA), and compliance reviews Key Responsibilities: Oversee engineering project execution, contract management, and risk mitigation Ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) compliance across all phases Coordinate cross-functional teams and external contractors Interface with internal and external stakeholders to meet project objectives Monitor budgets, timelines, and performance KPIs Implement project assurance, governance, and quality frameworks Conduct post-project evaluations and identify process improvements
