Senior Mechanical Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY The Sr Mechanical Engineer supports new product development and product sustaining tasks. The Sr Mechanical Engineer acts as a technical resource between internal groups, such as marketing, product management, application engineering, customer technical support, and manufacturing. The Sr Mechanical Engineer provides direct daily support to engineering groups by focusing on 3D Modeling, systems-entry, coaching less experienced Mechanical Engineers and other mechanical-related tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES Provides technical support to internal Vertiv functions - marketing, sales, application engineering, customer technical support and service and manufacturing during the different stages of product development Understands the product, suggesting ideas and improvements back to group. Assists with creation, reviewing, and systems-entry of new product specifications, ECNs, tests, procedures, user manuals, submittal drawings and sales literature. Creates/modifies mechanical drawings/parts in CAD systems, such as CREO Parametric Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues. Performs lab testing of products. Works closely with technicians and junior engineers, providing technical support and guidance QUALIFICATIONS 4-6 years of Product Development engineering experience. Applied Sheetmetal design experience Working knowledge of design processes, mechanical concepts, products, safety and test-methods Ability to follow, create and organize testing and instructional procedures Data-entry systems familiarity & BOM Creation Experience - Oracle, Agile, etc. Applied knowledge of CAD Software, CREO Parametric preferred Knowledge in Model Based Definition (MDB) preferred Able to conduct Tolerance Stack up Analysis Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and GD&T is a plus Troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and logically. Good planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills. Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional Global Development Teams. Fluency in English (90%) Experience in HVAC Industry is a plus
