Job Description
Position Overview: The Quality Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the Quality Management System (QMS) before plant startup, overseeing all quality assurance and laboratory functions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer standards. The role involves leading process improvements, conducting internal audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Primary Responsibilities: Develop the QMS before plant startup and serve as the ISO management representative. Manage laboratory staff, including training and performance oversight. Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to enhance productivity, yield, and product quality. Troubleshoot quality problems, recommend process improvements, and take corrective actions. Lead process improvement efforts using tools such as SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis. Conduct internal audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance. Collaborate with Sales to address customer concerns and with Operations to drive continuous improvement. Oversee quality control of raw materials and manage site SAP data, including BOMs, recipes, and master data. Lead new product introduction (NPI) and scale-up processes. Manage waste reduction, regulatory compliance, and technical record storage. Ensure proper labeling, sample preparation, and adherence to hazardous materials regulations. Minimum Requirements: Native Spanish speaker with bilingual proficiency in English. BS/BA degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, any 4-year degree with extensive relevant technical experience. Five or more years of experience in the chemical industry in a Quality Manager role. At least three years of leadership/management experience. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with QMS, ISO standards, and continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP or similar ERP systems. Experience with statistical process control and quality improvement initiatives. Preferred Requirements: MBA or additional business-related education. Experience with process control in batch chemical manufacturing. Knowledge of site-specific chemical processes. Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt) and experience with DFSS. Familiarity with regulatory standards such as OSHA, NIOSH, RCRA, TOSCA, and DOT. Basic proficiency in Portuguese.
