Lead Electrical Engineer

Our client, a leading Canadian mining company with long-standing operations and capital projects in central Canada, is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer on a contract basis. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical expertise relating to electrical engineering on both maintenance and projects throughout the mine Design, implement and/or support control systems, power systems, and computer/IT systems. Design and troubleshoot automation controls (PLCs and instrumentation) and HMIs (SCADA) in accordance with industry best practices Opportunity to give and receive guidance in a collaborative team of other electrical engineers and technologists working towards shared department goals Drive excellence in safe engineering practices by furthering project quality and thoroughness Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Registered as a professional engineer or eligible for registration with APEGS to work towards a P. Eng designation 2-10 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in the mining industry Proven leadership skills and Supervisory experience would be considered an asset Demonstrated commitment to safety Strong knowledge of varied electrical equipment and technical advances in the field Excellent knowledge of electrical codes and technical schematics Operations and Maintenance technical assistance Maintenance and design of modern control systems and related IT infrastructure Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or heavy industrial site is considered an asset
