Job Description

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB To facilitate and administer the learning and teaching process for students in modules presented by the Nelson Mandela University at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. To participate in and contribute to research, innovation, postgraduate supervision, community and discipline engagement. To be involved in the core functions of the University, faculty, school, and department. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Facilitate teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of postgraduate studies, research and innovation outputs, and postgraduate supervision. Perform academic administration. Incorporate trends with regard to learning and teaching pedagogy to ensure a student-centred learning experience. Maintain relevant and up-to-date learning and teaching material by integrating the latest IT/technology trends. Perform academic, community and discipline engagement. Contribute to the quality of the programmes and programme reviews CORE COMPETENCIES Possess sound knowledge of the theory and application of Information Security and Cybersecurity. Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Security and Cybersecurity. Knowledge in the fields of IT Management and Governance, IT Risk Management and IT Service Management would be advantageous. Ability to actively engage in and supervise postgraduate research. Ability to synthesize information to design learning experiences. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences through various media. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. REQUIREMENTS Senior Lecturer A Doctoral degree in Information Technology (or related discipline), with at least 3 years of relevant working experience. Evidence of a research track record, in line with the level of the post, must include articles published in accredited journals and subject-specific accredited conference proceedings. A track record of successful postgraduate student supervision. Substantial relevant experience in which competency has been gained in line with the relevant post. Lecturer A Masters degree in Information Technology (or related discipline) with at least 2 years of relevant and/ or related working experience. Evidence of teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of involvement in research and/or engagement Industry experience would be advantageous. Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
