Job Description

What you will do:

As Project Leader, under minimal supervision, performs tasks as required to execute and complete assigned projects including: layout/wiring design/schematics, BOM generation, data entry, order processing tasks and project closeout. Responsible for the overall results of assigned projects including: documentation, assembly, costs, quality, functionality, and on-time delivery. Maintains an effective balance with customers and plant personnel by acting as liaison engineer. Coordinates communication with the customer during all phases of the project. Ensures proper execution of project completion.

How you will do it:

  • Role model safety and ethical behavior as described in Johnson Control’s policies, procedures, and Leadership Expectation Model.
  • Develops, designs, and implements plans, processes, systems, and procedures utilizing standard engineering or technology principles. Lead major projects / system independently on smaller projects/ systems.
  • Use judgment in making adaptations or modifications to test equipment and processes with the assistance of equipment and Process Engineers.
  • Monitors the performance of production cells, test systems or operations for assigned product family. Analyzes data and recommend changes to improve production cell yield, product reliability and manufacturing / assembly cell efficiency. Assist Process Engineering with implementing long range improvement plans and error proofing systems.
  • Solves problems related to products design, test systems or procedures and or assembly and manufacturing operations. Provide technical assistance across multiple departments and products as needed. Act as liaison between manufacturing facility and Design Engineering, channel design improvement feedback to Design team for consideration in future designs and corrective actions to design issues.
  • Full knowledge of the New Product Introduction process.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a focus on manufacturing line transfers.
  • Conducts investigative projects. May occasionally be asked to direct staff in investigative applications. Ensures tasks / projects arecompleted within budgetary and time constraints while meeting customer commitments and contractual demands.
  • In conjunction with other team members, performs tradeoff between implementation, schedule, cost, and resource constraints, and recommend alternatives.
  • Provide technical feedback, input and consultation within the team and other departments involvedin product design, product assembly process or product test procedures and RMA evaluations.
