Job Description

SALARY RANGE: $52,229 to $82,152 per year
OPEN PERIOD: 10/29/2018 to 11/13/2018

This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and reviewing all veterans employment and training programs and activities. The VETS State Office is functionally responsible for (1) ensuring the promotion, operation and implementation of all veterans' employment and training programs and services within the State; (2) ensuring proper veterans' employment under Federal contracts; (3) protecting and advancing veterans' re-employment rights; and (4) monitoring and providing technical assistance on grants-to-States for veterans' employment and training programs.

The duties of Veterans' Employment Representative at the GS-9 include: Reviews programs and services provided to veterans through local State Workforce Agency (SWA) Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) and associated American Job Centers (AJC); monitors job development and job advancement activities for eligible veterans through audits of SWA AJC’s, on-site reviews of Department of Labor Employment Workshops (DOLEW) and Competitive Grantees provides limited technical assistance and program advice to; Grantees, federal, state programs; participates as a team member to monitor and evaluate various grants programs; provides compliance investigations and limited technical assistance to veterans and employers; and conducts outreach to agencies for job training and placement of veterans.

The duties of Veterans' Employment Representative at the GS-11 include all duties at the GS-9 level to include: Monitors programs and services provided to veterans through local State Workforce Agency (SWA); evaluates performance of approved Competitive Grant contracts; identifies deficiencies and noncompliance problems; provides technical guidance and assistance to state agencies, contractors, sponsors and other deliverers of services to veterans; encourages cooperative and compliance with law and regulations; provides compliance investigations and technical assistance to veterans and employers; locates violations and contacts employer(s) to explain violations of law and negotiates for compliance actions.

Conditions of Employment
Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.
Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
Must be at least 16 years old and an U.S. Citizenship.
Requires a valid drivers license.
