The CCP/OCSS Project Engineer will focus on:
- With guidance from the CCP Suit System Manager (SM), maintain a responsive and productive working relationship with Commercial Crew provider and any vendor or subcontractors
- Shall provide statuses, schedule, and forward work information to ensure all necessary CCP Suit team objectives and milestones are being accomplished on time and within program/project resources
- Support CCP Suit SM in the managing of the project's Technical, Schedule, Cost and Risk as needed
- Lead/Support Commercial Crew Provider hardware team(s) working meetings, requirement verification activities (i.e.
demonstrations, testing's, etc.) and travel as needed for On Job Training (OJT) events
- Project Engineer will support SSM who leads and provide weekly statuses to Commercial Crew Program (CCP) program customer, working actions given by program (as needed) and presenting at program forums for items such as hardware certification, project status, and or risks
- Support SM in integration and discussions with external orgs including Flight Operations Directorate (FOD), Crew Office (CB), Engineering Directorate (EA) and Crew Training representatives
- Keep relevant CCP stakeholders abreast of project development and operational status
- Serve as a key stakeholder for all CCP program milestones such as verification activities, hardware qualification events, launch preparations activities such as performing Pre Flight Readiness Review (FRR) tasks, Mission Support training (i.e. console simulation support at JSC Mission Control Center), and provide in person launch operations support
- Traveling to support commercial provider meetings, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), development efforts, qualification (certification) testing, failure investigations or technical issues, crew training activities and other critical project tasks are all responsibilities for this position
- Working with OCSS team to ensure project requirements are achieved
- Work in a team environment and report to project management to provide status on progress and issues related to support of the OCSS/CCP NASA customer
- Perform other duties as required
Job Requirements: Requisition Qualifications:

- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degree and zero (0) years direct engineering experience
- Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria
- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of hardware. Prior experience in pressure or oxygen systems
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection,
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
Requisition Preferences:
- Previous experience in designing and building unique hardware
- Prior experience in pressure, oxygen systems, suit systems would be considered a bonus
- Previous testing experience
- Familiarity with machine shop techniques and processing hardware through the manufacturing process.
- Ability to perform hands on test buildup, data processing, and documentation including test plans and reports
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with NASA flight processes including Class I/II/III hardware
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
