Quantity Surveyor – Brickwork Contractor Chelmsford, Essex £45,000 – £65,000 per annum (DOE) Full-time | Office and Site-based Are you a confident Quantity Surveyor with a background in brickwork and subcontracting? We're working with a well-established specialist brickwork contractor, seeking a commercially sharp QS to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a range of residential and commercial schemes across Essex and London, supporting project delivery and protecting margin on high-volume packages. The Role As a key part of the commercial team, you will take ownership of the full QS lifecycle – from procurement to final accounts – across multiple brickwork packages. You'll liaise closely with site managers, estimators, and directors to ensure cost-effective delivery. Responsibilities * Managing multiple brickwork packages from start to finish * Procuring and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers * Preparing valuations, variations, and final accounts * Monitoring project progress, cost reporting, and margin tracking * Working closely with site teams to ensure cost compliance * Attending site meetings and liaising with clients/main contractors Requirements * Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role * Strong knowledge of brickwork subcontracting * Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts * Excellent negotiation and communication skills * Competent with Excel and QS software (e.g., Causeway, COINS – desirable) * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across Essex/London What’s on Offer * Competitive salary up to £65,000, depending on experience * Ongoing support and development opportunities * Stable contractor with a strong project pipeline * Friendly, close-knit team environment Apply with the latest copy of your CV or contact James Bennett on the details provided
