Chemical Engineer

My client is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer with a strong background in chemical synthesis, particularly in complex or high-sensitivity chemical environments. This role involves supporting the development and optimization of chemical processes in partnership with a global network of external suppliers, as the company does not carry out internal manufacturing. Location: Udine, Italy Job Type: Permanent Industry: Chemical Manufacturing Key Responsibilities: Lead and support chemical synthesis development for new and existing products in partnership with external suppliers. Provide technical input into the selection, qualification, and onboarding of contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) and suppliers. Collaborate with external partners to ensure robust, scalable, and safe chemical processes are in place. Assist in the tech transfer of laboratory-developed processes to external manufacturing facilities. Monitor supplier performance, troubleshoot process issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure that external production meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Work cross-functionally with internal teams (R&D, QA, Supply Chain) to align on project goals and timelines. Review and validate supplier documentation, including batch records, process changes, and deviation reports. Contribute to risk assessments and ensure compliance with EHS guidelines across all supplier operations. Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline. Solid experience in chemical synthesis, ideally in complex or regulated manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of chemical plant design, powder processing, or hazardous material handling. Previous experience working with or managing external manufacturers, CMOs, or third-party suppliers. Knowledge of process safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
